GMNEA was first named DAIRYLAND NORWEGIAN ELKHOUND ASSOCIATION and was founded in late 1974 , with the first full year 1975.
The name changed to GREATER MILWAUKEE NORWEGIAN ELKHOUND ASSOCIATION when we became sanctioned by the AKC . They felt that Dairyland was not descriptive enough of our area.
