Our name changed to GREATER MILWAUKEE NORWEGIAN ELKHOUND ASSOCIATION because the AKC did not sanction "Dairyland" as they said it was too vague and not descriptive of our physical area. The locus of our club is Milwaukee, although we have members spreaad out over the state and even in other states.

Our club decided to become a sanctioned AKC club in 1989 and we held our FIRST A-OA SANCTIONED MATCH at the Wisconsin State Fair park on Friday night March 3, 1989.

There was an ominous beginning for us with a huge ICE STORM. But the show went on. We had 8 obedience entries and 24 conformation entries. Judges were Becky Jo Wolkenheim for Obedience, Francis Dignin for conformation and club member Richard Budny judged our two junior showmanship entrants.

Our Best in Match was STERLING HILL ONE FOR SCOOTS owned by Shelley and Sal Ferrito, shown by Shelley. .

Best of Opposite was JO CALA'S MAG WHEELS owner Cam and John LaBree.

High in Trial was HUNTER'S FROST AU LITTLE ACRE owned by Barb Budny.

Best Junior Handler was JAYMIE FERRITO and CH WINDY COVE JOYFUL JADA owned by Shelley and Sal Ferrito.
